The Art Train has been operating since February 2014. Situated in a restored train carriage right in the heart of Samford Village. 

The Art Train is owned and operated by Helen Evans. Helen has been a practising artist since graduating with an MA in textiles at Manchester Metropolitan University in the north of England. Her current practice is concerned with her abstracted landscape in acrylic and her animals in encaustic. Helen has exhibited her work in group and solo shows in the USA, Canada, Bermuda, UK, Russia, Caribbean, Russia, Australia and Poland. Her work can be found in private, public and corporate collections

The train functions as a studio, gallery and classroom. We have weekly classes for adults and children during school term times, all day holiday workshops for children during every school break, guided painting sessions and specialist workshops for adults.Have a browse of the tabs for more details.

Helen also has a home studio on 10 acres in Cedar Creek which can be viewed by appointment only.

Encaustic workshops for term three 2017


I will be running several encaustic workshops this term, which will be much longer than last years. I will be demonstrating a number of encaustic techniques including surface preparation, wax application, fusing, cutting, polishing, collage, etching, masking, stencilling,gilding etc... I will then guide you through two finished pieces of your own with a step by step approach. There will be plenty of room for experimentation and personalisation.



Workshops will be as follows


Saturday and Sunday July 8 and 9 ( come one day or both) 

Tuesday July 18 9.30 to 3.30pm Friday September 15  9.30 til 3.30 pm


each day is $125 which will include all materials plus tea and coffee. BYO lunch.
